MEET ELIZA
I wasn’t going to get another cat. At least not right then.
Considering a move to another part of Nashville, TN in a few months, I was going to do the sensible thing and wait until after I was settled into the new place and then I’d get a second kitty.
And then I opened Instagram one Caturday morning, went to the Nashville Cat Rescue account, and saw Eliza.
But you know, I wasn’t going to get another cat so I closed the app and went about my day. Got quite a lot done that day as I recall, but in between it all, I kept thinking about that kitty on Instagram.
Alright fine. Petsmart is open until 5 PM so I’ll swing by just before then and if she’s still there I’ll decide what to do.
When I got to the adoption center and opened the door, every cage was occupied, and Eliza was the only kitty who stood up and loudly meowed at me.
Alright fine.
Excuse me, ma’am? Ma’am? Can you help me, I’d like to meet this kitty over there, please.
Having someone open the door so I could reach in and take Eliza out of the cage was the best feeling. I held Eliza for a while, played with her on the cat tree, and realized I had already adopted her.
The adoption fee could only be paid in cash, which I rarely carry, so I had to leave her and run over to a nearby bank to get the fee.
